Sam, the man she loved, died nine months ago. His ghost keeps her company and she still talks to him every night.
She prays for any salvation, it arrives in a form she could never have anticipated.
About the Film
Born in Fire is a handcrafted feature film about grief, agoraphobia, and what becomes possible when you finally stop clinging on. It sits in the tradition of Polanski’s Repulsion and Mark Jenkin’s Enys Men, but is entirely its own thing. Two cast, one camera, the countryside of Cornwall and Devon and unfiltered creative passion.
Shoot complete. Currently editing to fine cut.
About the Director
David won a Best Drama BAFTA for The Giblet Boys on ITV. He has developed multiple feature films and written three novels. He spent twenty years trying to make a film on his own terms, finally this is that film, shot on a camera he owns, in a landscape his family is from, with a person he trusts completely.
Project History
David conceived of the possibility of making a film with only the resources he had to hand in May of 2026. A location he owned, a partner whose talent shines brightly, a story born from his own experience, and his production skills, honed over a lifetime spent making TV and films.
Less than five months later the film is nearing completion.
Only two people were involved in production, lead actress Suzy Hunt, and David who also performed, wrote, directed, filmed, edited, and even composed the music.
It is a test of what’s possible, an exercise in producing maximum dramatic power, within the constraints of what is physically available, and the results speak for themself.
